Who we are
We are a diverse group of people who act and focus on how to share human values together as opposed to focussing on what could differentiate, separate and divide us.
Our inspiration: the conviction that it is possible to help people become more fully conscious of their human values and help them develop effective reflexes of peace in the face of violence - in our surroundings and in the world.
The mission of Grains of Peace:
bring the spark that can help each person become aware of his/her internal resources for peace
imagine and propose ideas and aids that can help each person develop these
Grains of Peace communicates in three ways:
through its website, specially designed to stimulate ideas and thought processes on these topics
via its on-the-ground actions and programs for children, teens and adults (direct and via partners)
via dialogue-based events - encounters designed to discover, bring together and share ideas.
See our Organization Chart which highlights these ways of communicating.
Grains of Peace approaches the topics of peace and violence in a positive spirit with emphasis on three key concepts:
Human values - how to develop these, share these and better transmit these
The unacceptability of violence - how to integrate this key human value, how to distinguish it from non-violence
Peace reflexes - how to acquire these and use them successfully in conflict situations, in opposition to one's lowest instincts.
Discover these three notions on this website:
in the "Our Ideas" section on top, you'll find out what we mean by human values and peace reflexes, and why we differentiate the "unacceptability of violence" from non-violence
on the left-hand side is our "Ideas Box", where you'll find enjoyable tools to help you bring up and deepen these subjects with family, friends and colleagues. Have a look inside:
Child-sphere - for children
Teen-sphere - for teens and youth
My-sphere - for all other persons
on our forum or our teen-forum, you can share your thoughts and questions
in our portal - you'll find links to other websites, to other NGOs and to interesting events.
If you're an NGO or a professional, you'll find here:
our Directory of NGOs and professionals
our Calendar of events (ours and those of others)
some easy-to-use teaching aids inside the sections on the left-hand side.
